What happens on the floor, for the whole hall

The competition on the big screen: numbers on the floor, calls, sponsors and announcements in real time

Everyone in the hall wants to know who is on the floor, who has to get ready and what comes next. With DanceMatik Live Gara (control room, judging, projection) the projector or LED wall shows the competition the chairperson is running: numbers, names, calls, sponsors and announcements change on screen as soon as they change in the control room, with nobody updating slides by hand.

What the hall sees

The screen follows the control room: it shows what the chairperson puts on the floor.

  • On the floor now

Competition numbers in large type, readable from the back of the hall, with the names of couples, soloists and groups; in heats, which heat is on and how many there are.

  • Calls to the floor

When the chairperson calls a competition, the screen says who has to report, number by number, and which judges score the round, shown by name.

  • The next competition

Between one competition and the next the screen announces the next one in the timetable, with the numbers to get ready.

  • Breaks and end of day

Award ceremonies and showcases in the running order go on screen with their title, and at the end of the day the screen says the day is over.

Sponsors on three levels

Each sponsor has a logo or a text, and a level: Standard, Gold or Partner.

  • Three levels, three frames

Standard has no frame, Gold has a golden frame, Partner has an animated frame and a slightly larger logo.

  • On view all competition long

Logos scroll along the bottom band while people dance, take turns in the judges' box and, between competitions, fill the thank-you screen.

  • Scrolling texts

A sponsor without a logo becomes a text scrolling in the bottom bar, together with the control room's notices.

  • Order and speed

Each sponsor can be switched on and off, sponsors rotate in the order you upload them, and the scrolling speed is set from the control room.

The control room talks to the hall

From the «Announcements & Texts» tab of the control room, what you write goes on screen at once.

  • Announcements on air

Write «Number 27 is expected at the front desk» and press «Broadcast now on projection»: the announcement appears at the top of the screen above the competition, and becomes its title when the floor is empty, until you remove it.

  • Texts in a continuous loop

Notices and thank-yous scroll along the bottom bar one after the other; you switch them on and off whenever you like.

  • The history

Announcements stay in the control room's history, with the one on air highlighted.

  • One announcement per stage

At an event with several stages, the announcement goes on the screen of the stage you are running.

Several stages, several screens

Each stage has its own projection, and each projection follows the competition on its stage.

  • One projection per stage

If the timetable has several stages, you choose one when you open the projection: each screen shows the competitions, calls and announcements of its own.

  • In real time

Screens stay connected to the control room through an always-open connection (SSE): they update at every command of the chairperson, without reloading the page.

  • Several screens on the same stage

The projector in the hall and the TV at the desk show the same thing at the same moment.

What you need in the hall

Nothing to install: the projection is a web page.

  • A computer with a browser

Connected to the projector or the LED wall. The screen is designed for the 16:9 format, with 1920×1080 as the reference.

  • A staff account

The projection is restricted: it opens from the control room («Open projection») with an account that has a role on the event.

  • The network

The screen receives the control room's commands over the internet: the hall needs a connection, as the judges do.

Frequently asked questions

What does the big screen show at a dance competition?
DanceMatik's big screen shows the competition the chairperson is running: numbers and names on the floor, calls to the floor, the next competition, sponsors and the control room's announcements. It updates by itself at every command from the control room.
Does the big screen show the rankings?
Not by default: the screen shows who is on the floor, not the scores. In competitions with the 3D system the chairperson can switch on the average marks next to the numbers, and in multi-dance competitions the summary of the round once all dances are closed. The official ranking is the one in the official report produced by the judging system.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The projection is a web page: all you need is a computer with a browser connected to the projector or LED wall, and a staff account for the event.
Can the audience watch the projection on their phones?
No. The projection is restricted to people with a role on the event: the audience watches it on the screen in the hall. Results and reports, once you publish them, can be downloaded as PDFs from the event page.
Can I show videos or a live stream?
Not today. The screen shows the competition, sponsors with their logos and texts and the control room's announcements: there is no video or streaming.
Does it work on an LED wall?
Yes, if the LED wall takes a 16:9 signal from a computer: the screen is designed for 16:9, with 1920×1080 as the reference. Other formats are not supported today.
How are sponsors shown?
By level: each sponsor is Standard, Gold or Partner, with a logo or a text. Logos scroll along the bottom during the competition and fill the screen between competitions; texts scroll in the notices bar.
How much does the projection cost?
The projection is part of DanceMatik Live Gara: running every competition of the event live is a paid service, per event. The control room can be tried for free on the first competitions, and the screen shows a «DEMO» mark.
